The average American uses about 100 gallons of water every day. It’s pretty crazy when you think about it, and while water might seem to be an infinite resource, there is only so much fresh water available, and some predict that water supply could prove to be a big problem in the future.
So, what can you as a homeowner do to limit the amount of water that you use? Well, one important thing is to upgrade your appliances that use water. The older the appliance, the more likely it is to waste water.
Just as an example, an older toilet could use as much as 5 times more water than a modern one with each flush, without providing any improvement.
Aerators on your faucets will lessen the water needed to get the pressure needed for cleaning your hands and dishes, and the same is true with a modern showerhead.
On top of upgrading those things, you can also upgrade the way you use water, by not letting the water run unnecessarily.
